Freedom must start with salvation.

So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32

This is certainly the first step in receiving freedom from any kind of oppression or addiction. Why can I say that with such confidence? Although there are successful programs that will help someone who is struggling with oppression or addiction, the best they can do is teach you to cope. Jesus Christ of Nazareth came to give you life and life more abundantly. He did not come to teach ou to cope. Now here me, there is nothing wrong with using techniques of the world as long as they do not conflict with the written word of God, but through the Blood of Jesus, you can be set totally free.
What do I mean by totally free?

I mean, totally free. I have worked with many across this country who have been set free simply through prayer and confession. Am I a believer? You can be sure I am. I believe in the power in the Name of Jesus. the power in the Blood of Jesus and the power in the Word. If you are struggling right now, salvation is the first step to FREEDOM. With a belief in your heart and a confession on your lips, the Jesus dies, was buried, arose on the third day and sits at the right hand of God, the Father, then you will be saved. You are well on your way to freedom.

Freedom comes with a heart that is willing to acknowledge, confess, and turn from your sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:8-9

You cannot change what you are unwilling to acknowledge. You will stay in the very same place you are today, years in the future until you decide to acknowledge that where you are and what you are doing is unpleasing to the Lord. How can I say that? Because, addictions, as well as oppressions, are caused by allowing Satan a foothold in your life by believing a lie, making a poor decision, or poor choices. Take a few minutes now, right where you are, and ask God to show you where the problem stems from. Ask Him when it first became an issue. Ask Him to show you what you are holding onto so that you can let go of it. Freedom is no mystery. It is a benefit of doing things God's way. Acknowledge your sin. Confess your sin. Let it be known to God that you now confess your actions as sin. If and when you do, the cleaning will begin. The freedom will come.

God will always do His part. Will you do your part? He will do as he has promised in His Word. His Word is true and He cannot tell a lie. You can trust His Word. You have to do your part. What is your part? Your part is doing what you are told to do. Your part is acknowledging and confessing. Your part is to be open and honest with God. He already knows what is in your heart. He knows. So why not just tell Him that you want to be free, free from.....whatever that thing is, He will set you free from it if you are willing to do your part. How exciting! Yes you do have a part to play. You are not a victim, but a victor in Jesus Christ!

Freedom comes from revelation of scripture through the power of the Holy Spirit.

For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. I Cor. 2:10

Have you ever read scripture and all of the sudden, it makes sense to you. You've read the same verse a hundred times before, but now, it's as if a light bulb went on, and you really get it. That's what I am talking about. When you come to the understanding that your answers lie within the text of the Holy Bible, then you have a greater understanding of the need you have to be in the Word of God. The Word washes. The Word cleanses. The Word restores. The Word heals. If you are not in the Word of God on a daily basis, then you cannot possibly be getting the cleansing it has promised.
Decide today, as I did many years ago, that your answers are awaiting you, your freedom is promised, your path is clear. Determine to get to know your living Savior who died and was raised so that you may walk in the newness of life, with all the freedom and joy, that has been promised. Let it begin today. Pick up your Bible and say no to addictions, oppression, and defeat. You are FREE!

Freedom comes when you choose to lay down your sin.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Gal 5:1

I once worked with a woman who was in sexual sin. I knew she was although she would not admit it to me. Finally, I ask her if she would be willing to give up any and all ungodly, sinful relationships. She said emphatically, "YES!" I knew in my heart, that she did not mean it. She wanted God to fix her problems without acknowledging her sin was her problem. After quite some time, she had been crying, begging, and pleading with God, I gently and lovingly explained that God was willing to do His part, but she would have to do her part.

My friend, are you willing to do your part? Are you willing to admit sin is sin? Are you willing to lay that sin down? My heart for the woman was broken. It was not but just a few weeks later that I found out that she was right back into that sinful relationship. God doesn't want to take from you, He wants to give to you; give you all the benefits comforts and joy that comes allow with living a godly life. That being said, He will always let you choose. He will never force you to give up something, even if it is really bad for you. It is your decision. Choose today, to walk in the freedom that is available for you.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. I Cor 3:17

Freedom comes from the revelation that it is truly God's will for your life, to walk in freedom.

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Heb 13:21-22

Do you understand that God wants you to experience freedom more than you do? Do you understand that it is truly His will? If God loves His children, and we know that He does because He gave His own Son so that we might have life, then it should be easy to understand that bondage is not what he wants for you. When you are free, you are more able to serve Him. When you are free, you can praise Him more. When you are free, you are more likely to share the good news of the Gospel.
Sin produces shame and guilt. Shame and guilt keep you in an ineffective state. Bondage keeps you from becoming all that you can be. Today, decide to believe in your heart that it is His will for you to walk in FREEDOM.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for hearing my prayers.

Today I have learned some things I did not know. I am thankful that You promise to forgive all my sins. I am thankful that confession is a gift you have given to help me walk closer to you. I thank you, God that when I acknowledge my sin, you wipe it away. So heavenly Father, today I confess my sins to you and I receive the freedom that comes with that confession. I decide that through the power of the Holy Spirit and the promises written in your Word, that I will lay down my sinful ways and live the life you have planned for me.

Today, I declare, I AM FREE!.
